Keep your distance and stay calm; on a road switch on your hazard lights. An injured animal bites and scratches out of fear – only touch it if you must. Do not feed it.

Do not touch or take injured game (deer, wild boar, fox) – the police (110) will inform the responsible hunter. For hedgehogs, birds and other small wild animals there are wildlife and hedgehog rescue centres.
Tierrettungsverein Ashanti is a volunteer network of helpers, drivers, foster homes and sanctuaries – not a control centre with vehicles in every town. When your report arrives, we see from the location who in the network is nearby. If we can only advise, we tell you so honestly and name the right authority.

Now in October
Young hedgehogs have to put on winter fat now. One that is out in daylight, staggers or weighs clearly under 500 grams at the beginning of November will not make it through hibernation alone.
What you can do
When the clocks change, rush hour falls into dusk – exactly when wild animals cross. Most wildlife collisions happen in autumn and spring.
What you can do
Most kittens are born in spring and autumn – many outdoors, without shelter. Autumn kittens are hit hardest by wet and cold.
