What works today
- Screen readers and keyboard: every page has headings in a sensible order, labelled fields and buttons and a link that jumps straight to the content. Everything can be operated with the keyboard, and you can see where you are.
- Seeing: the text can be enlarged in the browser without anything being cut off. The page follows your device settings – light or dark, more contrast, less motion. The colours have been measured for sufficient contrast.
- Tapping: buttons and links are large enough to hit with your thumb. Tick boxes are larger than usual.
- Hearing and speaking: you report an emergency in writing using the form – without a call. There you can tick that we should not call you but write to you.
- Languages: the report forms and the guides are available in eight languages, Arabic from right to left.
- Forms: your browser can fill in the fields for name, email and phone for you. If a form comes back with an error message, what you wrote is still there, and you land directly on the message.

What is still missing
- There are no texts in easy-to-read language and no videos in German Sign Language yet.
- The translations have not yet been checked by anyone who speaks the language as a mother tongue.
- The flyers themselves are images and PDF files and are not accessible. Their wording is available as text on the flyer page – in German.
- Maps also show their content as a list; the map itself is of limited use with screen readers.
- Testing was done with our own tools and in the browser, not with every assistive technology and every device. Where something does not work, we want to know.

Emergency call without speaking
We are not an emergency service. If people are in danger, you can reach the police (110) and the fire brigade (112) without speaking through nora, the emergency app of the German states; it has to be set up beforehand. To the nora emergency app (opens in a new window)
